Mintera is a climate-positive financial ecosystem based on blockchain technology. We offer a hub of safe, reliable and innovative investment solutions backed by real assets and strong environmental commitments.

Mintera represents the union of Decentralized Finance (DeFi) and Regenerative Finance (ReFi).

The Mintera ecosystem is governed by our utility token [MNTE](/mintera-token-mnte/mnte-overview). With it, you can:

# MNTE overview

MNTE is the utility token of the Mintera ecosystem.

## Technology

MNTE is an ERC20[^1] token initially issued on the battle-tested and energy-efficient Ethereum network. MNTE has also been bridged to the [layer 2](#user-content-fn-2)[^2] Arbitrum One, so it exists on both chains and can be sent back and forth between Ethereum and Arbitrum using a [bridge](/mintera-token-mnte/ethereum-less-than-greater-than-arbitrum-bridge).

Even if it exists on both Ethereum and Arbitrum, most Mintera users will only use MNTE on Arbitrum as this is the chain used to deploy the Mintera App and associated smart contracts.

MNTE on Ethereum cannot be used with smart contracts deployed on Arbitrum.

Method 1: using a simple button

1. Go to <https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/mintera-token/>
2. Under "Contracts", click on the Metamask icon next to the Ethereum or Arbitrum contract depending on what network you are using.
3. Confirm in your Metamask. You should now see your MNTE balance under "Assets"

Method 2: import the token manually

1. Check that you are connected to the right wallet and to the network of your choice (Arbitrum One or Ethereum mainnet) at the top of the Metamask window.
2. Click on the “Assets” tab at the bottom of the window, then click “Import tokens”.
3. Under “Token contract address”, copy and paste the address depending on your network choice:\
   Ethereum: 0x94D40B49F020BfeBbA1a80A0191EB3737B90E8d3\
   Arbitrum: 0xd3e37dfa70DF2c66eACcb85d6bB88FCC8fA04407\
   The other fields should appear automatically.
4. Click “Add custom token” and then click “Import token”. Now you should see your MNTE balance in your wallet.

## Tokenomics

The total supply of Mintera Token is permanently fixed at 65,000,000 MNTE and will never increase.

The total supply could however decrease in the future as MNTE can be burned.

Supply may fluctuate between Ethereum and Arbitrum as users bridge their tokens on both chains.

# Ethereum <> Arbitrum bridge

The bridging process only concerns users who hold [MNTE ](/mintera-token-mnte/mnte-overview)on Ethereum mainnet (because they participated in the presale for example), as they need to bridge it to Arbitrum to be able to use it on the [Mintera App](/mintera-app/app-features).

## Prerequisite: Adding the Arbitrum network to Metamask

To use MNTE on Arbitrum you will need to enable the Arbitrum network on your wallet.

You do not have to create another wallet, you can simply switch Network on Metamask to see your balance on each network using the same public address.

While Metamask is the wallet most commonly used, other wallets allow you to see and interact with the Arbitrum network.

## The bridging process

### Option 1: do it yourself

Users can bridge MNTE themselves using the [official Arbitrum Bridge](https://bridge.arbitrum.io/).

> <mark style="color:green;">**Pros:**</mark> you can do it yourself anytime and you are fully in control of your funds.
>
> <mark style="color:red;">**Cons:**</mark> gas fees may be high to bridge.

1. Go to the Arbitrum bridge: <https://bridge.arbitrum.io/>
2. Connect your wallet and make sure that both your Metamask and the bridge website are set to the network Ethereum Mainnet. Make sure the arbitrum website is set on “from: Mainnet” and “To: Arbitrum One”.
3. Click on the dropdown list, enter 0x94D40B49F020BfeBbA1a80A0191EB3737B90E8d3 (MNTE contract address on Ethereum), select MNTE and import.
4. Click “Max” to bridge 100% of your tokens.
5. Double check the summary, and click “Move funds to Arbitrum One”.

### Option 2: let us do it (limited offer)

To avoid the fees associated with bridging the token yourselves, we offer an alternative to users holding MNTE on Ethereum.

> <mark style="color:green;">**Pros:**</mark> we cover the gas fees.
>
> <mark style="color:red;">**Cons:**</mark> centralized, manual and more lengthy process.

1. Simply send your MNTE on Ethereum mainnet to the following address held by the core team: 0x8B668B5B62C943d99C9FB21BA940a2E910FECdD2.
2. We will send you back the same amount on Arbitrum + the equivalent of $5 in MNTE to help cover the transaction fee (weekly distribution).

All current and future distributions of MNTE by the Mintera team (token sales, giveaways and other events) are taking place on Arbitrum directly to simplify the user experience by eliminating the bridging process.

## Bridging back to Ethereum

If for any reason you need to bridge your MNTE back to Ethereum, you can follow the inverse process using the[ Arbitrum Bridge](https://bridge.arbitrum.io/).


# How to setup MetaMask

Install and setup the MetaMask wallet to interact with Mintera

## Installing MetaMask

### Step 1: Download MetaMask wallet

Go to <https://metamask.io> and click “Download”. Choose your preferred browser or mobile application and install the MetaMask extension.

### Step 2: MetaMask wallet installation

Click on the browser extension panel and click on the MetaMask extension.

You can either import an existent wallet using the seed phrase or create a new one.

### Step 3: How to create a new MetaMask wallet

Create a strong password, and then click secure my wallet. Save your private key in a safe place, preferably on a piece of paper, and then confirm it.

Once the account is created you will receive a welcoming message and get full access to it.

## How to add the Arbitrum Network on MetaMask?

### Step 1: Add a new network

Click on Ethereum Mainnet on top left, then click add network.

### Step 2: Add Arbitrum network to MetaMask

Click Add on Arbitrum One as highlighted and then just click approve.

Once you have finished setting up the MetaMask account and added the Arbitrum network, you can receive Ethereum on the Arbitrum network in 3 ways:

* click buy Ethereum in MetaMask
* Click receive and copy your MetaMask address to send Ethereum on Arbitrum network from another wallet.
* Bridge Ethereum yourself from Ethereum mainnet to Arbitrum.

You can switch between Ethereum and Arbitrum network anytime.

# How to buy MNTE

## Tutorial: 3 simple steps

Step 1 : Go to [Mintera app](https://app.mintera.co/buy-mnte/) and click on "Buy MNTE".

Step 2 : Click on "Connect Wallet" and select MetaMask or any other wallet you have. Make sure to switch to Arbitrum network (see [Setup MetaMask](/mintera-token-mnte/how-to-setup-metamask) for instructions)

Step 3 : Select the desired amount of ETH you want to spend and swap it against MNTE. You need Ethereum on Arbitrum One for this action. Once you have signed and confirmed the transaction, your MNTE tokens will appear after a few seconds in your wallet and in the app.

## ARCHIVE: previous token sales

Previously you could only buy MNTE against ETH during our initial offerings on our official website: <https://mintera.co/buy-mintera-token/>

Initial sales consisted of successive rounds with increasing prices in ETH.

To be able to claim, you need to have bought MNTE during the sale round (see previous tutorial above).

MNTE is locked in the token sale smart contract until the end of the round. Once we enter the claiming period, follow these simple steps to claim and receive your MNTE:

1. Go to <https://mintera.co/buy-mintera-token/> and scroll to the bottom of the page to the "completed rounds" section.
2. Select the round you participated in and click "Claim now". That will open the interface of that particular round.
3. Connect with the same wallet you used to invest in the round.
4. Click "Claim token" and approve the transaction in your wallet. Your MNTE will be sent automatically right away.

This module shows the MNTE currently owned by your wallet.

# Connect wallet

Using the Mintera App requires you to connect your wallet through WalletConnect.

WalletConnect is an open-source framework that helps implement established connections between various crypto wallets and decentralized applications (DApps).

Connecting your wallet enables the use of funds stored in your wallet on the Mintera App.

You can connect different types of wallet. One of the most popular options is [Metamask](https://metamask.io/).

## How to connect your wallet

Prerequisite: make sure that you have a WalletConnect compatible wallet like Metamask installed on your device.

Go to [app.mintera.co](https://app.mintera.co/) (make sure you are on the right URL). You will see at the top of the page if your wallet is not connected:

1. Click the button "Connect Wallet" on the top right. It will open the WalletConnect interface:

2. Select your wallet, for example Metamask. This should automatically open your wallet.
3. Authorize the dApp: you’ll receive a pop-up asking if you wish to approve the connection to the chosen wallet. Review and authorize the connection.

Once you authorize the connection, the Mintera App can successfully access and interact with your wallet.

If you own MNTE tokens, you should now see your balance on the Dashboard.

You can now use your MNTE in our DeFi products like the [Green Mining Yield (GMY)](/mintera-app/green-mining-yield-gmy).

## Approve transactions with a connected wallet

When you make a transaction within the App, a pop-up requiring your approval for the transaction will appear. Check the transaction details and click Confirm.

You will be invited to specify the amount of MNTE tokens you approve to send to the staking contract. This amount should be the same to the one you fill in the UI.

Click on Confirm after checking the details.

**Is WalletConnect safe?**

WalletConnect establishes a secure, encrypted connection between your wallet and the DApp. All information transmitted between the wallet and DApp is encrypted symmetrically with a shared key that only these two parties possess.

Generally, to improve your custody security, we advise you to use a personal physical cold wallet to store your assets. Please remind: "Not your keys, not your coins".

# Green Mining Yield (GMY)

Real passive income in stablecoin

GMY is Mintera's first investment product, allowing you to stake[^1] your MNTE and receive a monthly yield[^2] in USDT[^3].

## GMY features in-app

The technical backbone of GMY is an [audited ](https://mintera.co/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Audit-Mintera-Black-Paper.pdf)smart contract deployed on Arbitrum that trustlessly manages the staking function and the distribution of rewards.

The Mintera App provides a simple interface to:

* Stake your MNTE in the GMY smart contract
* Track the USDT rewards that you accumulate in the GMY smart contract
* Claim your USDT rewards to move them from the GMY smart contract to your personal wallet
* Withdraw your MNTE from the GMY smart contract to your personal wallet

# Three GMY periods

Staking - Distributing - Claiming

We have defined three distinct periods during which the usage related to the staking smart contract differs.

The 3 periods are included in the mainnet V1 version of GMY due to constraints related to the inner workings of the GMY smart contract.

We are working on a V2 update of the smart contract with technical improvements that will remove the need for different periods. ETA: Q3 2023.

## Staking period

During this period, token holders can invest their MNTE tokens in the staking contract.

They will not be able to withdraw their funds or claim their rewards during this period, as it is entirely dedicated to staking MNTE tokens.

## Distributing period

During this period, Mintera deposits the amount in USDT corresponding to the global staking rewards for all stakers into the GMY smart contract.

Then, the rewards are distributed to all users staking MNTE, based on their total share in the pool. One complete period must be completed since the investment to receive the rewards.

We have implemented this system so that users who have been staking for a complete cycle (including at least: 1 staking + 1 distributing + 1 claiming) are not disadvantaged compared to users staking late in the cycle. This is to avoid front-run attacks from malicious participants.

## Claiming period

During the claiming period, stakers are able to claim the rewards in USDT which were allocated to them in the distributing period.

During this period, stakers can also completely withdraw their MNTE investments in order to exit the staking contract (and simultaneously recover the rewards if this had not been done previously).

To stake, you first need to buy MNTE and to connect your wallet to the Mintera App.

## Staking Tutorial

Staking is simple and only takes a few clicks:

1. Enter the amount of MNTE you want to stake under "Stake MNTE"
2. Click "Confirm". This will open a popup with your wallet displaying the confirmed amount and asking you to approve the transaction.
3. Review the transaction in your wallet, and click "Confirm".

Wait a few seconds for the transaction to go through. Your MNTE stake should now appear under "Staked in GMY". Congratulations, you have successfully staked your tokens!

Rewards will now be periodically added to the "My rewards" panel. No further action needs to be taken from your end.


# Claiming / Withdrawing

To claim or withdraw, you first need to have staked MNTE in GMY.

## Claiming VS withdrawing

These two terms refer to two specific functions within GMY.

* **Claiming:** the act of moving your USDT rewards from the GMY smart contract to your personal wallet.
* **Withdrawing:** the act of unstaking your MNTE from the GMY smart contract and claiming your rewards in consequence.

**Important note about the withdraw function**

Currently, the withdraw function unstakes all your MNTE from your GMY smart contract and claims your rewards. You can view it as closing your GMY account.

It is not possible to unstake only a part of your MNTE.

You can stake again after withdrawing

## Claim

To claim, simply click "Claim my rewards".

Confirm the transaction in your wallet. You will see your USDT in your wallet once the transaction is complete.

## Withdraw

To withdraw your MNTE and claim your MNTE, click "Withdraw all".

A confirmation popup will appear. Read it, and click "Confirm withdrawal".

Confirm the transaction in your wallet. You will see your MNTE and your USDT in your wallet once the transaction is complete.

## Pending rewards

When distributed, rewards are marked as pending for the duration of the next cycle. Pending rewards are attributed to your account and already stored in the GMY smart contract.

Pending rewards become available to claim right after the next distribution event. Therefore, the pending period lasts around a month.


# GMY calculator

The GMY calculator estimates your rewards over time.

Simply enter the amount of MNTE to stake and select the staking duration in months.

### Estimated rewards

The GMY rewards can vary depending on the price performance of Chia, the asset that we farm to generate the rewards. The calculator reflects that uncertainty with 3 reward scenarios:

**Low estimate:** the price of Chia stays flat or declines

**Medium estimate:** the price of Chia stays flat or grows

**High estime:** the price of Chia grows strongly


# Testnet

A testnet is an alternative blockchain to be used exclusively for testing. Testnet tokens are separate and distinct from actual tokens, and are never supposed to have any value.

The Mintera App has been released on the Sepolia testnet, so users can try the Mintera App functionalities without any risk.
